Preferably done on a designated sterile station and not on a bathroom floor.
I would like to say this is just a joke, but I have had conversations with too many parents (new and older) who have had to share horror stories of being out on the town with their children and the inevitable diaper change needs to happen only to find that if a changing table exists, it only exists in the ladies restroom.
In an effort to focus on the positives in life, I have created a page on this site that calls out the places that I have truly enjoyed going to that have had a place where I can change my child’s diaper without having to do it on the floor or in a random spot in a hallway. Again, focusing on the positive, so I only want to call out the places that are getting it right! Too many accounts exist already to try and start issues with a business because they didn’t meet all of the needs a person thinks they should. That is not what this platform is about. They must have their reasons and that is fine, but that doesn’t mean we as a community can’t celebrate those who do meet a need that we have! So take a moment today and head over to the “Pit Stops” page and take a look at the ever growing list of places we have come across.
The list is small now, but not because there are not places that fit the criteria. It is tough to go out with a little one so we don’t make it out like we used to. So comment on spots that you have found that have a place to do a diaper change! Let’s get the word out to parents to help make our precious times getting out of the house as easy as possible. The phrase “it takes a village” looks a little different now and I believe it is support and knowledge share such as this that takes the sentiment seriously. It has almost become a game for my family that when we go out, whether we have to or not, we make a pit stop in the restroom just to make note. Expect the list to grow and come back and check often to see if any new places make the highlight reel! Also, share with parents you know who are in the diaper changing stages – I know from personal experience that they would appreciate a heads up!
